“Stop work temporarily” says West Bengal govt. to metro railways

KOLKATA: The metro railways in Kolkata were asked to stop the work temporarily after the portion of the bridge collapsed on 11th September, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said today.

A report given by PWD chief engineer, claims that the Metro Railway work was creating many problems at the place. “State govt. asked the Metro Railways to stop work near Majerhat Bridge for a few days till the reports on bridge collapse submit by the high powered committee headed by Chief Secretary Moloy Dey. The committee is asked to submit the reports in a week” Mamata said in press conference after a meeting at state secretariat.

Mentioning that The metro railways working since the last nine years, she said “The piling work obtains high-level vibration that might affect the bridge, the high powered authority will look over this.

Meanwhile, being strict, she said “whoever found guilty in bridge collapse after reports, a strict action will taken against them.
