HYDERABAD: The Secunderabad division of South Central Railway’s has taken a step forward towards cleanliness and green environment. They have installed 22 bottle-shredding machines at different stations in Hyderabad and Secunderabad and have asked passengers to become part of their initiative.
At Secunderabad station, 12 bottle shredders have been installed, while five have been installed at Hyderabad station, and one each at Necklace Road, Begumpet, Hafizpet, Hi-Tec City and Lingampalli stations.
The shredding machines at the Secunderabad station shred around 600 bottles daily and machine at the Hyderabad station shreds 300 bottles on a daily basis. The shredded pieces of bottles are being collected and are recycled in an environment-friendly way.
In order to
encourage station and coach staff to use the machines, the bottle shredders are
also installed at coach maintenance yard and at central waste collection bin at
Secunderabad station to easily dispose of the collected pet bottles while
cleaning the coach.
Ch Rakesh, CPRO said, “The railways has appealed to its customers to cooperate
with it in taking this momentum forward at all the stations in its jurisdiction
and contribute to greener environment.”
