PANCHKULA: The Government of Haryana has signed an agreement with the Renewable Energy Service Company to install solar panels on 43 government buildings with a capacity of 3500 kilowats.
In order to make Panchkula a solar city, the state government has already placed solar plants on the rooftops of 38 government buildings in the city. Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula, stated that the city will be developed as a solar city with a target of meeting 20 per cent of its energy requirement from solar or renewable energy sources by 2023. “To fulfill this objective, we have improvised a working group, which will carry out several activities in a phased manner in three years,” Singh said.
Singh has also directed the Panchkula Municipal Corporation and the Haryana Urban Development Authority to identify 10 sites for setting e-charging stations.
