LUCKNOW: Executive heads of 11 nagar panchayats (town councils) were issued show-cause notices by the Government of Uttar Pradesh for not providing required information sought by the government on the development of areas newly designated as urban areas.
Among those local bodies, eight are in Gorakhpur and three others in Hardoi, Hathras and Shahjahanpur respectively. According to officials, despite repeated reminders, the aforementioned local bodies did not submit the detailed project reports (DPR) describing further plans for the nagar panchayats. Failing to follow the orders, disciplinary action could be initiated against the executive heads.
The CM Nagar Srijan Yojana was approved to improve basic urban amenities and lay out the rules for establishing new urban local bodies. The CM Nagar Srijan Yojana now includes 102 newly established town councils, and they were required to submit DPRs. The first reminder was delivered on August 8 by the directorate of local bodies. They’ve issued four more reminders since then. The nagar panchayat was given a final deadline by Neha Sharma, Director Directorate Local Bodies and requested to provide an explanation for the delay.
