Shillong finally selected as 100th smart city

Shillong: The capital city of Meghalaya, Shillong has been finally selected as the 100th smart city under smart city mission. The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban affairs evaluated the proposal submitted by the state government and selected the city as the 100th city to receive funding under the Center’s flagship Smart City Mission.
Till now 99 cities have been selected in four rounds of competition, and with the announcement of Shillong city selection as the smart city 100 cities have been completed under smart city mission.
When the smart city mission initially launched, 20 cities were selected in January 2016, 13 cities in May 2016, 27 cities in September 2016, 30 cities in June 2017 and 9 cities in January 2018.
