NEW DELHI: The Standing Committee of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on December 18, approved eight parking sites inits jurisdiction for private buses and commercial vehicles.
Delhi Contract Bus Association in a petition to the high court said that 8,000 buses are registered in the city which are paying yearly parking charges to the municipal corporations and are being parked on the roadside. Shikha Rai, chairperson, standing committee said that such parked buses cause traffic jams.
The SDMC approved parking rates as well as a monthly pass for parking of these vehicles at the identified sites. Some of these sites include near Scope Complex at Lodhi Road, outside Tihar jail, and at Dwarka Sector 13 and Sector 14 metro stations.
The parking rates at the sites will be the same as the North and EastDelhi Municipal Corporations.
