SAMALKHA, Haryana: The Government of Haryana has issued a notification regarding the expansion of the territorial boundary of the Samalkha Municipal Committee. The expansion will take place after 29 years, after which the civic body will be upgraded into the Municipal Council.
PP Kapoor, Convener of the Samalkha Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, informed that Vikas Gupta, Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Urban Local Bodies, has released the directives to expand the civic body limits in the gazette notification. The gazette notification read that the entire revenue estate, including Samalkha, Bhapra, and three adjoining villages, Pawti, Patti Kalyana, and Kiwana, will be merged with the civic body.
As per PP Kapoor, though former CM Manohar Lal Khattar announced the extension of the territorial limits in a rally at Jorasi Village in Feb 2019, it took five years for the urban local bodies department to implement the task.
The extension of Smalkha MC limits will benefit thousands of people living in Bharat Nagar, Shastri Colony, Shree Tara Enclave, Mayur Vihar, Chandan Garden, New Durga, Gandhi Colony extension, Ganesh Nagar, Pritam Pura extension, New Durga, Sitaram Colony extension, Gandhi colony extension, Mahatma Gandhi Gramin Basto in Patti Kalyana. After this, residents of these villages will have better sanitation, street lights, developed streets, drains, sewerage, and potable water facilities.
