ITANAGAR: On January 31, 2019, the Inter-Ministerial committee on Special Accelerated Road Development Program for North East has approved the proposal of Rs 3,988.98 crore for road projects. This approval will be helpful for the construction of Potin to Pangin stretch on Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) because this project was on suspension after the fore-closure notice to Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways.
As per the direction of Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Satya Gopal, the chief secretary attended the 79th meeting of the inter-ministerial committee and explained all about the significance of road project. He said, “Potin-Pangin stretch is the most important and it needs the immediate action of Central Government.”
After the explained presentation, the committee approved the proposal which also includes electricity and water supply implements.
The committee divided the stretch of 351.383 kilometre of Potin-Pangin in three packages by combining package 1-3, 4-6 & 7-9 which have more than 100 kilometers each and these are costing around Rs 1000 crore plus to sort out the problems occurring in constructing the road.
