HYDERABAD, Telangana: The Project titled ‘Road Reader’, which was launched as a pilot project in Bengaluru city by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), will soon be implemented in Hyderabad city by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Signages with QR codes will be installed on the roads under this project. When scanned, these QR codes will lead the user to a webpage which will display relevant details of the road. Apart from that, it will also display information such as the name of the contractor in charge and officials of the Engineering, Sanitation and other wings of ULB responsible for maintaining the road. With this, the local authorities are aiming to improve grievance redressal mechanisms at Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
The directives to implement this project in Hyderabad city came from KT Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD). An individual on Twitter suggested implementing the Road Reader project in Hyderabad. Minister Rao, in response, assured to act on the suggestion and tagged G Vijay Laxmi, Mayor GHMC and Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD.
Later Arvind Kumar posted on Twitter that the project will be implemented within six to eight weeks in GHMC. Similarly, the Mayor also assured to do the needful for the implementation of the project in GHMC.
