RANCHI: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has decided to move its technological upgradation programme further and has equipped its enforcement cell with advanced communication devices and Point-of-Sale (PoS) machines so that the civic body can track violations across the city and penalise the violators.
This initiative is a part of RMC Technological Upgradation programme and is focused on ensuring co-ordination between the enforcement cell’s members and senior officials. Besides the PoS machines, 60 walkie –talkie sets have also been provided to the officials of the enforcement cell by Asha Lakra, Mayor, RMC, and Mukesh Kumar, Municipal Commissioner, RMC. In conversation with Times of India, Kumar said that this step will bring transparency in penalizing the violators and these violations will basically be centered on waste management and illegal construction. He further added that these devices will help in co-coordinating with different teams of corporation with assistance from the communication devices. Besides this, it will also help to collect on-spot fines via PoS machines.
Mayor Lakra stated that this technological advancement is for the citizens and should be used for their benefit. However, she also mentioned that if there are stances of minor violations, they should be waved off with a warning by keeping the law in mind. Charging citizens on every petty thing is not the solution, she added.
