DHARAMASHALA: Residents of Sudher village of Dharamshala district protested against Dharamshala Municipal Corporation (DMC) for establishing a solid waste dumping site in their village. The protestors alleged that the shift of the dumping site is polluting the water sources of the village and a strong stench is emitted from the decaying waste. The residents blocked the Dharamshala-Kangra national highway for about two hours. Sources have informed that the solid waste management at the site has been badly managed and has been posing serious problems to Sudher village. Recently, a fire broke out at the dumping site, emitting toxic fumes in the adjacent areas. The protestors have said that the agitation would continue until a fix isn’t found by the authorities soon.
