PATNA: Lalit Chandra Trivedi, General Manager, East Central Railway (ECR), inaugurated an internet protocol (IP) based video surveillance security control centre at the headquarters in Hajipur on Monday, January 25. It has been made operational at 13 more stations under ECR with an intention to further improve the security system. Railways has already made this system operational at most of the major stations, which also includes Patna Junction.
Trivedi, on Wednesday, January 27, praised the railways’ efforts to install such an advanced security surveillance system. He said that the railways centralised surveillance control centre will keep a watch on the security at foot overbridges, passenger reservation system and ticket booking counters, waiting halls and circulating areas.
Rajesh Kumar, Chief Public Relation Officer, ECR, said that the security surveillance based on Internet Protocol is operating at 28 major stations across the country under the integrated security cover plan with the sole objective to keep a close surveillance on the activities of antisocial people with unlawful intentions and luggage lifting on station premises.
