QCI declares areas under EDMC ODF

NEW DELHI: The areas under the jurisdiction of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) have been declared open defecation free (ODF) in a survey conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI) on March 25, 2019.

According to a statement issued by the EDMC on March 25, 2019, the QCI conducted surveys at 17 different places in the areas under the EDMC. The places which were surveyed included residential, slum and school areas.

Dilraj Kaur, EDMC Commissioner, said that the corporation is making all efforts to improve cleanliness in its areas which have shown positive results. She said in order to make the area clean, green and free from open defecation, the EDMC organised intensive drives with the co-operation of RWAs and NGOs.

In the ‘Swachh Survekshan-2019’, the EDMC jumped up to 240 rank improving its stand from the previous ‘Swachh Survekshan’ rank which was 341.
