MOGA: The Government of Punjab has notified the implementation of the Model Welfare Scheme for the registration of construction workers in the state. The scheme adopts Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and the Ayushman Bharat Scheme of the Union Government in it and will cover the construction workers by providing an insurance of Rs 2 lakh in case of a natural death and Rs 4 lakh in case of an accidental death, along with disability benefits.
Workers and their family members will also be entitled to a medical insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh for cashless treatment from the hospitals associated with the scheme.
The state government has also adopted the Education Scheme of Model Welfare Scheme to provide financial assistance (Rs 3,000 to Rs 70,000) for the education of labourers’ wards.
Central schemes will include maternity benefit (Rs 21,000 and Rs 5,000 for mother and father, respectively), Shagun (Rs 31,000) for marriage of girl, LTC (Rs 2,000) once in two years, help for purchase of health aid, cremation, girl child birth (Rs 51,000), assistant for mentally and physically disabled kids, etc.
