CHANDIGARH: According to an official statement, the Punjab cabinet has decided to lend 25,000 newly constructed houses to those who constitute the Economical Weaker Section ( EWS), as per Chief Minister of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi.
The applications for these houses with the mandatory documents would be invited as per planned policy and these houses would entail an area of approximately 30 square metres. The scheme is considered to be a pro-poor scheme, which would benefit around 25000 EWS families across the state, the CMO said. Furthermore, the statement also proclaimed that a public sector undertaking of the Government of India has been engaged through an open selection process as Project Management Consultants for the aforementioned project so that it is executed in a well-mannered way.
The Punjab EWS Housing policy was given a nod in March 2021, by the Cabinet under which 25,000 EWS houses would be constructed by the Special Urban Planning and Development Authorities.
