PUNE: The Shivane to Kharadi road, which was proposed in 2011, is yet to be built, but the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) announced on Wednesday, January 19, that it will be finished in the next six months. This project’s land purchase is still in progress. Sandeep Khardekar, Spokesperson, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who has been tracking the project’s progress, has raised various doubts and accused the administration of the project’s delays.
The Road Department of PMC said in a letter to Khardekar that the work will be completed in the following six months. The city council, on the other hand, remained silent on the land acquisition. “The duped road between Rajaram Bridge and Mhatre Bridge has been encroached upon. Despite the fact that I filed a complaint, the PMC has done no action.”, Khardekar said.
In the letter, V J Kulkarni, Chief, Road Department, PMC stated that the civic body has requested a six-month extension to complete the road. As a result, the corporation has prohibited any work on the properties that are located along this road’s alignment.
The construction of this route began in 2011. The route is being built to shorten the distance between Ahmednagar Road and Kothrud, according to officials. Even the length of the road has been designated as 24 meters in some areas and 36 meters in others, according to Khardekar.
