PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is looking to start building libraries and reading rooms in the municipal gardens under civic body limits. The initiative is taken up by the women and child welfare committee, to promote reading habits among the youth population of the city.
To facilitate the younger audience of these new libraries and reading room, they will be equipped with books including comics and educational materials.
As per the
proposal submitted by the committee the pilot project will be rolled out in one
or two gardens first, and it will extend in other municipal gardens after
looking at the people’s response to the first initiative. A general body
meeting will also happen before giving the project a green signal.
To make this initiative successful the civic body will seek help from
volunteers and NGO’s for the promotion of the project.
