GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has submitted a formal proposal for clearance of the Ghaziabad urban passenger ropeway project to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India. Meanwhile, clearance for the project will be sought at the municipal level at the authority’s board meeting on January 7.
The GDA’s ropeway project will connect Mohan Nagar on the DMRC’s Red line and Vaishali on the DMRC’s Blue line in Ghaziabad, as an alternative to a Metro extension. After receiving in-principle approval for the project at a meeting, GDA’s chief architect and urban planner, Ahish Shivpuri, said they have forwarded a formal proposal of the ropeway project to the Morth for approval. They will present the plan to the GDA board at a future board meeting, after which it will be forwarded to the state government. Shivpuri said that the project may headstart in June/July next year after receiving approval from all the concerned authorities.
