COIMBATORE, Tamil Nadu: A Kalpana, Mayor, Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC), on Saturday, September 3, along with other city officials, laid the foundation of projects worth Rs 1.5 crore in Coimbatore.
The total estimated cost of all the projects initiated by the Mayor stood at around Rs 1.5 crore. The list of projects includes the renovation of an old dispensary in ward 73, which will be turned into an Urban Health Wellness Centre (UHWC), construction of additional toilets and classrooms in the primary schools and higher secondary schools in the west and central zone at the cost of Rs 1.05 crore. Apart from that, a new UHWC will be built at Anna Nagar in Edayarpalayam at a total cost of Rs 45 lakh.
Dr M Sharmila, Commissioner (in charge), CCMC, noted that the council had earlier approved the construction of UHWC in the park site. She added, “Other vacant lands are available only in Vadavalli and KK Pudur, which will be 4 km away from the spot. So we decided to construct it in Edayarpalaym park site.”
