SHILLONG, Meghalaya: District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Garo Hill District to conduct 12 days training under the ‘Aapda Miitra’ volunteers programme from June 15 to 18, at DRDA Hall in Williamnagar.
The training programme will be organised by the DDMA of East Garo Hills, Police Department, Civil Defence & Home Guards, Fire & Emergency Services, Block Master Training and Medical Mobile Unit. In the first phase, 40 volunteers will be trained, and the remaining 60 volunteers will receive the training in the second and third phases.
‘Aapda Mitra’ programme aims to create a band of trained volunteers who will facilitate immediate community response to any disaster by providing timely relief in any contingency circumstances.
