BATHINDA: A team of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) officials conducted inspections of the private hospitals of Bathinda on July 10, and discovered that four hospitals were violating bio-medical waste management norms. The hospitals, namely Kalra Hospital, Nivaran Hospital, DD Bone and Joint Hospital and Guru Ramdas Hospital, would be subjected to penalties for flouting the norms. The inspections were conducted under Punjab government’s initiative, ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’.
The environment engineer of the PPCB said, “During the inspection, it was found that these four hospitals were violating various sections of medical waste management norms. According to the rules, we will take strict punitive action against these hospitals. The PCCB will continue to inspect hospitals in the future as well.”
