PUNE: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday, August 10, approved projects related to sewage treatment and drainage plans in 11 villages that were brought under their jurisdiction in 2011. The project will include repair and drainage line development works at a cost of Rs 392 crore. Prior to this project, PMC had not done any substantial work in the 11 villages.
For the development work in the 11 villages, a grant of Rs 100 crore has been approved. However, the civic body has not spent even 10 per cent of that amount as the villages continue to be neglected. The villages do not have basic infrastructure and continue to face problems related to sewage, drainage and road issues.
According to officials, the development work has been in the tender stage since the merger occurred. Vikram Kumar, Commissioner, PMC, said that the development work will be carried out over the next three years.
