PM Modi meets officials, Cyclone forecast for Odisha coast soon

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with the country’s top officials regarding a cyclonic storm reaching the Odisha coast on Thursday, December 2. The announcement comes in after IMD released a forecast of a cyclonic storm brewing over the Bay of Bengal. 

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm will reach Odisha coast on December 4. Apropos to that Government of Odisha on Wednesday, December 1, asked the collectors of 13 districts to prepare for the evacuation of people. The authorities have sorted a disaster management strategy by National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and fire department personnel. The Coast Guard has started extensive pre-emptive security measures along the eastern coastal line.
