NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, March 5, was bestowed with the ‘Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award’ by the Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA).
Accepting the award, PM Modi said that he dedicates the award to the citizens of our great motherland and the glorious tradition of our land that has shown the way when it comes to caring for the environment. Addressing the event CERAWeek 2021 via video conferencing, the PM said that while climate change and calamities are major challenges today, fighting them with behavioral change is essential.
The award recognizes the commitment of leadership towards future of global energy and environment, and for offering solutions and policies for energy access, affordability and environment stewardship.
PM Modi added that growing forest cover in India, increasing population of lion, tigers, leopards and waterfowls over the previous years, are great indicators of positive behavioral changes. Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, he said that if the world would have been following his teachings, we would not face many of the problems we do today.
The PM further stressed on how India can drive the demand for healthy and organic food through the spices and Ayurveda products of this country.
The CERA is a United States-based consulting firm that specializes in energy markets and organizes the CERAWeek, an annual conference that features world leaders as keynote speakers.
