PM launched Gangajal project in Agra

AGRA: Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on January 9, 2019, launched civic projects including the ambitious Gangajal scheme worth Rs 2,980 crore. The Gangajal scheme would provide drinking water to the city of Taj from the Ganga river.

The Gangajal scheme will provide better and more assured water supply, benefitting both the residents of the city as well as tourists, officials said. PM also laid the foundation stone for an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) for the Agra Smart City project.

PM said that the city would soon be covered with 1,200 CCTV cameras, which would allay security concerns of the tourists, particularly the foreigners. The SN Medical College in Agra will be upgraded with a 100-bed maternity wing.
