NEW DELHI: Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, inaugurated the New Bhaupur- New Khurja Section of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor through video conferencing. Modi said that these freight corridors will play an important role in making India self-dependent. Everyone, including farmers, traders and consumers, will benefit from these.
He further said that earlier, freight and passenger trains used to run on the same track. However, the Government of India has now focused on better connectivity. The newly inaugurated corridors for the carriage trains will ensure that the passenger trains run on time. This will also ensure that the goods trains will run three times faster and carry twice the load.
Modi also inaugurated the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor’s operation control centre at Uttar Pradesh via video conferencing. He said that if India is moving fast towards becoming the biggest economic power, then it is necessary to have the best connectivity.
