SOLAN: District Legal Services Authority, Solan, initiated a mass plantation drive at several locations in Solan district. The drive was backed up by the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Service Authority (HPSLSA) on August 24. Students from various schools of the district participated in the event. A total of 1,500 saplings, most prominently Deodar, were planted by the children.
Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary, Executive Chairman of the HPSLSA, inaugurated the drive by planting a sapling in the forest area of a village in the district. He said, “The purpose of the drive is to enhance the green cover and protect the natural glory of our depleting environment.” Such drives would also be launched at other places in the state as a step forward to environmental conservation.
