Pink line section from Shiv Vihar to Trilokpuri may open in September

NEW DELHI: Waiting for the section of Pink Line Metro, which connects Shiv Vihar of North East Delhi to Lajpat Nagar of South Delhi, has been a bit longer. The 17.8-kilometer long Shi-Vihar to Trilokpuri section was about to open this month, but those who are eagerly waiting for it will have to wait a month longer. This section will now open in mid-September.

The 29.6-kilometer long Pink line between the Majlis Park and Lajpat Nagar is already operational. The first section of this line is going on from March this year, in which the Metro recruitment between Durgabhai Deshmukh South Campus from Majlis Park. The extension of this line has started in August, which has 6 stations including Lajpat Nagar. The third section of this line connects Shiv Vihar in North East Delhi and Trilokpuri in East Delhi.

DMRC had said that this section of the Pink Line had been opened in August but now sources are telling that this section will be opened in mid-September. There is a trial run on this corridor.

The DMRC spokesman said, “The trials are going on between Trilokpuri Shiva Vihar, which will be completed in August. After this, the date of inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will be fixed.

Before getting the date from CMRS of DMRC, many procedures have to be completed, including the clearance of many documents. If the sources say that the last section of the pickup line that connects the Mayur Vihar Phase-1 to Lajpat Nagar is likely to start in October.

The DMRC spokesman said that the trial run on the last section is likely to be started in the third week of August, while the Mayur Vihar Phase-1 section from Trilokpuri is not ready because some problems related to the land are being obstructed.
