JAMMU/ SRINAGR: The sixth phase of nine-phased Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Polls held on December 1, 2018 recorded 76.9 per cent polling.
The Jammu division recorded 84.6 per cent voting and Kashmir Division recorded 17.3 per cent voters exercised their franchise.
Udhampur district in Jammu Division recorded the highest voter turnout of 88.5 per cent, while in Kashmir division, Ganderbal district took the lead with 41.5 per cent polling.
Voting took place for 406 sarpanch and 2277 panch seats. 7156 candidates were in fray. 11 Sarpanch and 1048 Panch were elected unopposed. 3174 polling stations were set up in this phase – 410 in Kashmir Division and 2764 in Jammu Division. Out of these, 771 were categorized as Hypersensitive including 410 in Kashmir Division and 361 in Jammu Division.
