GANDHINAGAR, Gujarat: The second and final phase of Gujarat Assembly polls for 93 assembly constituencies spread across 14 districts in north and south Gujarat concluded on December 5. The Election Commission of India (ECI) said that the second phase of the polls recorded 59 per cent voting.
The fate of 833 candidates from 61 parties was at stake in the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections. There were around 26,409 polling booths and 36,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to allow 2.51 crore eligible voters to exercise their franchise. The list of 26,409 polling stations includes 93 model polling stations and 93 eco-friendly stations. Apart from that, 93 polling booths were being managed by Divyangs and 14 others by the youth. Additionally, Webcasting was supposed to be done in 13,319 polling booths in the second phase.
The 93 seats for which 833 candidates are contesting in the second phase are spread across Mehsana, Patan, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Aravali, Mahisagar, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Dahod, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, and Chhota Udaipur districts.
Voting for 89 seats took place on December 1 in the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections, and votes will be counted on December 8.
