PUNE: Tech Mahindra has won a project worth Rs 500 crore from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Puneet Gupta, Sales Head – India, Tech Mahindra, said that the project is anticipated to cover phases like smart surveillance, smart parking and traffic management as well as an integrated command and control centre (ICCC) and social media analytics.
The company is already engaged in smart city projects in
Kanpur, Gandhinagar, Nashik and Jaipur. It had earlier worked on implementation
in Jabalpur as well.
According to Gupta, the PCMC project will be of over one year, followed by an
operation and maintenance contract for five years. Shravan Hardikar, Commissioner,
PCMC said that the civic body is committed to offering much-improved services
through ICT-led transformation. This project can boost the overall
infrastructure in the city and can also help in establishing a digital
ecosystem for rendering seamless smart city experience.
The PCMC project is among the largest smart city contracts awarded and is a
more comprehensive and end-to-end initiative than others focused only on
specific aspects like traffic management or surveillance.
