PATIALA: The Patiala District Administration has created a one-of-a-kind project through which students, youth, self-help groups, women, differently abled people, small and large businessmen, and the general public can submit fresh ideas, concepts, or plans for their dream project. People will be provided with every assistance to make it a reality. Sakshi Sawhney, Deputy Commissioner; Aditya Uppal, Municipal Commissioner; Gautam Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development), local industrialists, representatives of self-help groups, and other local business people of the district jointly launched the ‘Future Tycoons: Start-up Challenge’ project.
Gurdev Singh Dev Mann, MLA of Nabha, praised the initiative, and the creation of Yellow Pages Directory of the area’s trained young and diverse professions under the Punjab Skill Development Mission. Startup Punjab presented a check for Rs 3 lakh to Trijan Kala Sangam Self Help Group on this occasion.
According to Sawhney, Patiala has become the first district in Punjab, as well as the country, to reach out to community members who run their own small businesses or are members of self-help groups. The district government, with the help of local industry Angel investors, would give a proper platform for continued development of their business, industry, or enterprise. Potential entrepreneurs who submit the best concepts, ideas, or plans to District Bureau of Employment Enterprises will have a month until June 12 to present their ideas, and the winners in each category will receive Rs 51-51 thousand in cash, seed funding, angel investor support, loans and subsidies, registration on start-up portals, and other benefits. As a consolation, individuals who submit better ideas will be given the option of a bank tie-up and consultation.
