PANIPAT: The Panipat Municipal Corporation got the open defecation-free plus plus (ODF++) status after the third party inspection by a Central team earlier in January 2019.
The team visited 20 community and public toilets and two STPs at Sewah and Jattal. It also inspected hygienic conditions at four slum areas, five residential areas, four commercial areas, four public areas, two transport hubs, one water body area, four barren areas and four roads. Out of 20 toilets inspected by the team one was categorized under very clean, three in excellent, three in clean and six in the aspirational category. Earlier, Panipatsecured 255th rank inSwachh Survekshan-2018 conducted in 485 cities and towns of the country. It was ranked 335th in 2017.
The ODF++ status is awarded to the cities that have smart toilets, no open drainage and adequate sewage treatment plants (STPs).
