PANCHKULA: The Panchkula district have now got a special committee for water conservation. Kavita Jain, urban local bodies minister, Haryana formed the special pond committee.
Jain asked the officials of working committee to prepare a report about the condition of water bodies in the district after conducting a survey of all the ponds present in the district and they have been asked to start work on repairing them.
The minister said that she took the steps to form a special committee after Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his ‘mann ki baat’ asked people to conserve water and following which the initiative has been taken.
Chairman of zila parishad, mayor of Panchkula, deputy commissioner, additional deputy commissioner, irrigation department and public health department, district development and panchayat officer, forest department, among other departments concerned have been made members of the pond committee.
