Over 45 springs to be revived in J&K under ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’

BHADARWAH: The Government of India is planning to restore over 45 dried up natural ancient springs in a valley in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. This move would come under the ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’, officials said on September 25.

Sagar Dattatray Doifode, District Development Commissioner, began the restoration work of the identified springs, including a unique Buddhist era spring named ‘Dragon Mouth’ at Sungli village in the town, the officials said.

“We’ll try our best to revive all water bodies of this valley, especially ancient springs,” said Doifode, who led a team to inspect the dried-up natural water resources. The springs would help the need of potable water to locals and would also serve as a tourist attraction for the Doda district.
