NEW DELHI: The Omicron variant replicates 70 times faster inside human respiratory tract tissue than the Delta variant, according to researchers at the University of Hong Kong. Omicron achieves higher tissue levels 48 hours after infection than Delta. According to the report, mutations in Omicron have speed up the process of invading or replicating (or both) inside the tissue.
According to a slew of research, it is less severe than the preceding variations since it does not cause as much lung damage. According to a study conducted on hamsters and mice by a group of US and Japanese scientists, those infected with Omicron had less lung damage, lost less weight, and were less likely to die than those infected with other variants. Due to up to 36 mutations in the spike protein, the Omicron variant is known to be vaccination resistant. Many features of Omicron are still being investigated by researchers all across the world.
