BHUBANESWAR, Odisha: The Department of Housing and Urban Development has asked all the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Odisha to prepare an action plan for Sanitation and Waste Management. During a review by G Mathi Vathanan, the Principal Secretary, emphasized the need for 100 per cent door-to-door collection and construction of toilets in slum areas, effective management of waste centres, and cleaning of drains before monsoon. He also emphasized the need for a community partnership model in designing the action plan.
Sangramjit Nayak, Director of Municipal Administration cum Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission, asked all the local bodies to ensure proper and better service delivery for sanitation and waste management, involve community partnership model, and ensure the three principles of embarrassment, explanation, and education that to be adopted to sensitize citizens, households, and establishments.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of the department, deputy commissioners of municipal corporations, executive officers of local bodies, sanitation experts, and other professionals.
