Odisha government sanctioned Rs 54 lakhs to feed stray animals amid lockdown

BHUBANESHWAR: In times of pandemic when all human beings are working for their safety, Odisha government has sanctioned Rs 54 lakhs to feed the stray animals amid the lockdown. The lockdown has put a stop to daily lives of people, and lives of stray animals have changed. Street animals who are dependent on restaurants leftovers or food given by residents to them have found themselves in hardship as they are left hungry. To ensure welfare of stray animals, Odisha Government has sanctioned Rs 54 lakhs which is released from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The funds will be given to five municipal corporations and 48 municipalities in the state. Municipal Corporation of Bhubaneshwar has been sanctioned Rs 20,000 per day to feed stray animals in its zone. While Rs. 10,000 per day have been given to Berhampur, Cuttack, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
