NOIDA: The Noida Authority has decided to let out 350 electric bikes (e-bikes) for commuters. They can rent these e-bikes at a cost of Rs 2 per minute for their last mile connectivity. Moreover, the authority has developed 62 parking sites for these e-bikes and more will be developed soon in Sectors 6, 67, 14 and 16A of Noida.
The Noida Authority has shortlisted Bengaluru-based micro-mobility platform Yulu Bikes Private Limited for the same. This agency will be responsible for executing the project. The Noida Authority has already set up docking stations across the city after deliberations with Yulu Bikes. Noida has both Metro and bus services to meet the city’s public transport needs, but covering short distances remains a task for commuters. “A commuter can use these e-bikes to reach his/her destination and park the bike at the nearest parking site. We hope that this hassle-free service will benefit the users,” said S P Singh, Deputy General Manager, Noida Traffic Cell.
Moreover, to make the project financially viable for the agency, the Authority will provide a space of 50 square feet at every docking station for advertising.
