No drinking water supply for Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewage Board in a press statement said that several areas in Hyderabad will have to go without drinking water supply in multiple phases between August 26 and 29.

The situation in the city is due to maintenance work ongoing on Osman Sagar conduit and cleaning of c. Therefore, there would be no drinking water supply from 1 am on August 26 to 6 am on August 27.

The areas that will be affected include Kakatiya Nagar, Salarjung Colony, part of Padmanabha Nagar, part of Khaderbagh, Vijaynagar colony, Chintal Basti, Humayun Nagar, Syed Nagar, A C Guards, Khairatabad, Mallepally, Bhoiguda Kaman, Aghapura, Nampally, Devibagh, Afzal Sagar, Seetharambagh, Habeeb Nagar, SRT (part), Jawaharnagar (part), P&T colony, Sayanna galli, Ashoknagar Extension, Elchiguda, Jyothi Nagar, Vinayak Nagar, Maisamma Banda, MCH Quarters, Secretariat, Red Hills, Hindi Nagar, Ghode ki Qabr, Gunfoundry, Domalguda, Lakdikapul, Manikonda, Puppalaguda, and Narsingi.

Due to repairs to the damaged expansion joints on 2200 mm dia Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-I, pipelines between Godakondla and Gungal at Takkellapally stream, the water supply would be shut for 36 hours between 6 am on August 28 and 6 pm on August 29. Moreover, for Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phases II and III, there would be a two-hour shutdown by TS Transco between 10 am and 12 pm.

The areas affected for this water cut include Aliabad, Miralam, Kishanbagh Riyasanth Nagar, Santosh Nagar, Vinay Nagar, Saidabad, Asmangadh, Chanchalguda, Yakutpura, Malakpet, Moosarambagh, Boggulakunta, Afzalgunj, Hindi Nagar, Narayanaguda, Adikmet, Shivam, Chilkalguda and Dilsukhnagar reservoir areas.

The statement further mentioned that to supplement water from areas of Phases II and III to the areas of Phase I, there would be no water supply from 6 am to 6 pm on August 29 to the commanding areas of Bhojagutta, Marredpally and Sainikpuri reservoir areas.
