MUMBAI, Maharashtra: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will soon start selling drinking water to companies that come under the ambit of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). Water will be supplied from the tertiary treatment plant situated at Koparkhairane.
The water treatment plant was constructed under the Central Government’s Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. Along with supplying drinking water to companies at a subsidised rate, the plant will bring in revenue to the corporation.
Rajesh Narvekar, Commissioner, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, said, “Once formally inaugurated, our tertiary water treatment plant will be able to generate 40 MLD (Minimal Liquid Discharge) every day.”
