NMMC declares 567 buildings ‘unsafe’, 62 ‘most dangerous’

NAVI MUMBAI, Maharashtra: In preparation for the upcoming monsoon, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) conducted a ward-wise survey and found 527 buildings ‘unsafe’ while 62 have been declared ‘most dangerous’.

In the 2024-25 survey done by the civic body under Section 264 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act 1949, 62 buildings have been termed most dangerous as they fall under the C-1 category (high risk and uninhabitable). These buildings need to be vacated and demolished at the earliest. Soon, the civic body will be disconnecting the electricity and water supply in these buildings.
