NEW DELHI: Eight projects worth around ₹638 crore were approved in the 48th meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG). G Asok Kumar, Director General, NMCG presided over the meeting of the Executive Council.
These eight approved projects include four projects worth ₹407.39 crore for cleaning the Hindon River, a tributary of the Yamuna River. These newly approved projects are part of the comprehensive Hindon Rejuvenation Plan. Hindon River has been identified as a Priority I polluted stretch, and these projects will prevent the polluted water from going into Krishni River, a major tributary of the Hindon River.
The list of four projects approved for the Hindon River includes a five million litres per day (MLD) Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) (Nirmal Jal Kendra), five KLD Septage Co-treatment Facility, Interception & Diversion and other works in the Babri and Bantikhera villages; 40 MLD STP, 20 KLD Septage Co-treatment Facility, Interception & Diversion works in Shamli town; five MLD STP, five KLD Septage Co-treatment Facility, Interception & Diversion and other works in Banat town; and 10 MLD STP, 10 KLD Septage Co-treatment Facility, Interception & Diversion (I&D) and other work in Thanabhawan town.
Apart from that, two projects for the development of ghats in Prayagraj and Haridwar and one project each related to sewerage management in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh have also been approved in the NMCG meeting.
