NEW DELHI: NITI Aayog in collaboration with Convergence Energy Service Limited and World Resources Institute-India launched e-Sawaari Indian Electric Bus Coalition. This coalition is supported by the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI).
Through this e-Sawaari India Electric Bus Coalition, the state and city level government agencies will be able to put across knowledge and their leanings on e-bus adoption in India. Electrification and advancement in the bus sector is one way of decarbonisation strategy. It can also be considered as innovative means in addressing the challenges, procurement, and financing e-bus deployment, said Mr Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog.
Moreover, the adoption of the electric bus has gained traction in India due to which their respective governments have embarked on the journey of electrifying their bus-based transport system. The main mission behind this initiative is to achieve sustainable development goals with cooperative federalism by enhancing the involvement of state governments of India in the economic policy-making process using the bottom-up approach.
