MUMBAI: Nine municipal corporations of Maharashtra including Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Nashik, Solapur, Thane, and Brihanmumbai are all set to have administrators due to delayed local body elections in the state. There is no clarity over the delimitation of wards after the Government of Maharashtra based two bills, which could delay the elections.
The administrators took charge of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and Solapur Municipal Corporation on Tuesday, March 8. Other local bodies of Pimpri Chinchwad and Nashik are set to follow the suit next week. Mayor of Pune Muralidhar Mohol said that the election will be delayed due to various reasons but the work should not stop and elected representatives should continue to serve the citizens.
