NEW DELHI: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has pulled up officials of the Meerut Municipal Corporation (MMC) for not filing any report on issues related to violation of environmental norms. The NGT bench regretted delay in the matter after more than a year.
“We admit our disappointment over this matter, no report has been filed by the MMC or any other authority. No explanation has been furnished for such apathy to the directions of this Tribunal,” Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, Chairperson, NGT, said. After deliberation into the situation, NGT has directed the Divisional Commissioner of Meerut to conduct a meeting with concerned officers to take cognizance of the issue, which include illegal encroachments, unregulated parking and other environmental violations and devise a remedial action plan.
