NEW DELHI: After Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, sought citizen suggestions for easing the ongoing lockdown, over 5 lakh residents have given their suggestions. Satyendra Jain, Delhi Health Minister, confirmed that a new policy is being formulated based on the suggestions and it would be announced in 2-3 days. Giving slight details of the next phase of the lockdown in the city, Jain further said that whatever is open, will remain operational providing appropriate social distancing is observed.

Kejriwal has made it clear that it was not possible to completely reopen the city as the number of COVID-19 cases is on the rise despite the imposition of the lockdown. However, the government is looking to restart economic activity in a staggered way after the third phase of lockdown ends on May 17. For this, the citizen feedback has been sought. Kejriwal also confirmed in his video press conference that the Delhi Government is also engaging experts and doctors in the discussion over the upcoming extension of the lockdown.

Delhi’s is one of the worst COVID-19 hit cities in India, with the number of cases reported at 7,998 and death toll at 106.
