NEW DELHI: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) takes a step towards incorporating stray animals in the urban ecosystem by coming up with a veterinary hospital in Moti Bagh, announced Satish Upadhyay, NDMC on Thursday, February 3.
The new hospital would be equipped with imaging facilities, operation theatres, surgical recovery units, outpatient departments, and an audio-visual consultation room, among other technology-aided amenities. The project’s goal is to give complete medical care to stray animals, as well as pets and domesticated animals, all under one roof.
The hospital will be located near Bidhan Chandra Vidhyalya in Moti Bagh and will be a three-story structure. “The NDMC has chosen to establish a new modern veterinary hospital with all current equipment in the New Delhi area, in response to repeated pleas from animal lovers for a full-fledged, updated facility,” Upadhyay said in an interview with Hindustan Times.
The proposed facility can treat 150-200 animals on a daily basis. The new structure will be quake-proof and span across 420 square meters.
