NEW DELHI: The kiosks in the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area would be renovated and given a modern style, as well as display panels for advertisements, informed an official on Thursday, February 17. They stated that while the NDMC has created the first sample kiosk near the Constitution Club on Rafi Marg in Lutyen’s Delhi, it wants to rehabilitate 30 more in the first phase and up to 250 in the end. The rehabilitation is being carried out as part of the Smart City initiative.
“The 6×6 foot kiosks will be built using a complete RCC structure with terrazzo floors and walls, as well as granite and tiles. Electrical fittings will be available for these kiosks,” remarked Satish Upadhyay, Vice Chairman, NDMC. He claims that the one-of-a-kind edifice will feature not just high-quality RCC stone, but also three open kiosks on sides. According to Upadhyay, display screens have been preserved on the outside of kiosks so that future advertisements can be displayed. The estimated cost of renovation for each kiosk is over Rs 11 lakh.
The reconstruction, according to the top official, will contribute to the beautification of the NDMC region and, as a result, boost the local body’s position in Swacchta Survekshan 2022. “Our goal is to improve any common area, whether it’s a kiosk, a walkway, or a road,” he explained.
