NEW DELHI: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is planning to launch a project to revive the water body in Nehru Park, located in the Chanakyapuri area. With the help of the bio-remediation process, the civic body will improve the water quality in this lake.

Apart from resolving issues like algal bloom and foul odours, the civic body will also work on beautifying the lake by adorning it with aquatic plants, fountains, etc. It is estimated that this will take at least three months.

A senior official speaking with the media said that the bids for the bio remediation process have been called in and an operator would be selected by the end of August. This operator will be responsible for the lake’s maintenance, and planting, trimming, and taking care of the aquatic plants.

The water level in the lake in Nehru Park is maintained with treated wastewater sourced from the nearby Central Public Works Department (CPWD) line, which then undergoes tertiary-level treatment to ensure water quality.
